Ganga Aarti in Varanasi IndiaAdd to Lightbox
People watching the performance Ganga Aarti celebrated every night in Varanasi. Every evening after sunset a group of priests in Dashashwamedh Ghat perform "Agni Pooja" (Worship to Fire) dedicated to Lord Shiva, River Ganga. They perform this ritual while pilgrims and tourists watch from the ghat and boats. This city is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world and also the holiest of the seven sacred cities in Hinduism and Jainism and so the most important pilgrimage place for hindus.
